Job summary

Legacy Health provides education to women, families and other professionals in childbirth, breastfeeding and women’s health, including the early postpartum period, parenting, newborn care and childhood safety. The educator maintains a current knowledge base and uses varied methods suited to pediatric, adolescent and adult clients.

The role supports the program through active development, evaluation and continuous improvement, acting as a communication link with clients and the broader health

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited secondary school; 2 years of advanced education in health care, education, or related field required.
• Equivalent work and/or educational experience considered.

• Maintains current knowledge base and employs diverse learning methodologies geared toward pediatric, adolescent and adult clients; acts as a liaison with the client and the health care system.

Responsibilities

The Health Educator provides education to women, families and other professionals in the areas of childbirth, breastfeeding, women’s health and the early postpartum period, parenting, newborn care, wellness and childhood safety/injury prevention or special needs transportation. The educator maintains current knowledge base in these and related areas, and employs a variety of learning methodologies geared toward the pediatric, adolescent and adult client. The educator is a communication link with the client and the health care system. The educator participates actively in the development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of the program.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduate of an accredited secondary school; 2 years of advanced education in health care, education, or related field required. College degree in related field preferred. Equivalent work and/or educational experience considered.

Skills:

Demonstrated ability of positive interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians and the community.

Licensure

Certified as a Childbirth Educator by ICEA, Lamaze International or similar national organization with established certification criteria, or able to meet these criteria within one year of hire. Formal lactation education training by established organization preferred.

Pay Range

USD $36.33 - USD $51.96 /Hr.
