Health Educator II

Job Description

The Nutrition Educator II provides nutrition education in clinical, community, and educational settings. This role serves individuals of all ages, ensuring that the educational content is appropriate for their functional and developmental needs.

A valid driver's license is required as the Nutrition Educator II is expected to travel within the Greater Philadelphia area and transport program materials. Flexibility is highly preferred as this position may require working after hours.

Essential Functions

1. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
2. Collaborates with administrators, community organizations, and educators to support and enhance nutrition-related programs and initiatives.
3. Develops and implements educational materials, lessons, presentations, and workshops based on evidence-based interventions.
4. Documents and reports interventions in electronic systems.
5. Monitors and tracks participation to assess the effectiveness of programming and adjusts as needed.
6. Participates in outreach events to promote healthy habits.
7. Works in various settings including faith-based organizations, pantries, libraries, school sites, and residential neighborhoods.
8. Maintains detailed records of sessions, participant interactions, and program participation for reporting and compliance purposes.
9. Communicates effectively with people of various backgrounds.
10. Lifts at least 25 pounds.
11. Works independently and within a team.
12. Familiar with the Microsoft Office Suite.

Competencies

• Understanding of nutrition science, dietary guidelines, and health promotion principles.
• Knowledge of community health practices, public health nutrition, and culturally relevant dietary practices.
• Understanding of educational methods for delivering nutrition information effectively to various audiences.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple programs, events, and priorities.

Ability to adapt educational content to meet the needs of diverse populations, including different age groups, cultural backgrounds, and literacy levels.

Education & Experience

• Preferred Bachelor's degree.
• 5 years of experience working with children and community members of all ages in various settings.
• Preferred experience with administering lesson plans and curricula.
• Preferred experience in nutrition education.
