Job summary

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s in Education with Alaska certification, and bring experience in education, plus a preference for knowledge of Inupiaq language

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Alaska Teacher Certificate required.
• Three years of experience in education preferred.
• Inupiaq language, History & Culture experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain competency in subject matter areas of certification and assignment; training provided for subjects outside area.
• Employ appropriate assessment methods to identify student proficiency and plan programs using data.
• Foster harmonious relationships with students, parents, staff, and community; demonstrate flexibility, warmth, and openness.
• Promote and support NSBSD Strategic Plan goals and district policies.
• Participate in educational committees and organizations for personal growth and profession promotion.
• Develop bicultural or multicultural instruction in response to local culture and community needs.
• Use Rubicon Atlas to develop culture-based units per annual expectations.
• Supervise and train instructional paraprofessionals as needed.
• Adhere to ethics and Professional Teaching Standards; maintain weekly lesson plans and digital copies.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
