Job summary

New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYC Health Department) seeks a City Research Scientist to lead engineering and data-communication platforms for public health data products. You will guide cross-functional teams, design interfaces, and ensure accessible, actionable visualizations for NYC health insights.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in data visualization, user-centered design, and health literacy, with leadership and collaboration skills to advance population

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field with 1 year supervisory/research experience (for Level I).
• Doctorate with 1+ year supervisory or research experience (Level II+).
• Master's with 3 years experience; equivalent to above.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering and development of the UDX platform.
• Collaborate on research and design to convert needs into prototypes.
• Identify design or technical problems and craft timely, cost-effective solutions.
• Lead contributors including junior developers and UX designers.
• Communicate decisions and trade-offs to internal stakeholders.
