Job summary

Gateway Community & Technical College seeks a Program Coordinator for Health Professions AHEC to plan and implement programs informing students about health careers and to provide educational opportunities for middle, high school, and post-secondary learners. The role collaborates with AHEC teams and Gateway staff.

The position offers a discretionary hybrid work arrangement, 37.5 hours per week, with a 12‑month term and a salary of $41,730.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and 2 to 4 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to teach interactive classes for middle/high school and college-level students.
• Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight travel.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Available to work some weekends, as needed.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, ability to work independently and adapt to fast-paced environments.
• Skilled in engaging students from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a variety of programs designed to inform and interest high school and grade school students in health careers; programs will include Health Career Pathways, summer camps at Gateway and other higher education institutions.
• Counsels and advises students individually and in groups about career exploration, self-assessment, and career decisions.
• Plan and implement after-school health career programming with external partners; start new programs in rural and urban schools.
• Plan and coordinate mock interviews, a Boot Camp and shadowing experiences for pre-med students; answer questions about student services and policies.
• Assist with events such as the NKY Health Career Showcase and recruitment of students into AHEC Scholars.
• Assist with the Scholars didactic and experiential sections to meet core competencies.
• Participate in statewide and regional meetings when scheduled.
• Collaborate with partner offices to provide and share health career programming.
