Job summary

Gateway Community & Technical College seeks a Program Coordinator to plan and implement health professions recruitment and education programs for middle, high school, and post-secondary students. You will work with the AHEC team to provide healthcare workforce opportunities and collaborate with community partners.

Responsibilities include coordinating events, counseling students, and expanding Health Career Explorers programs; travel and evening/weekend events may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 2–4 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to teach interactive classes for middle/high school and college-level students.
• Willingness to travel, including occasional overnight travel.
• Must be able to work independently.
• Available to work some weekends, as needed.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, ability to work independently and adapt to fast-paced environments.
• Skilled in engaging students from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word).

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement programs to inform and interest high school and grade school students in health careers.
• Counsel and advise students individually and in groups about career exploration and decisions.
• Coordinate after-school health career programming with regional partners; expand programs.
• Program in rural and urban disadvantaged schools.
• Coordinate mock interviews, boot camps, and shadowing for pre-med students.
• Assist with events and recruitment of students into health career programs.
• Support scholars’ didactic and experiential components to meet core competencies.
• Participate in statewide and regional meetings as scheduled.
• Collaborate with partner organizations to share health career programming.
• Maintain and report program data and evaluation results.
• Prepare grant reports for federal and state funding.
• Support recruitment and growth of health career programs at Gateway.
