Job summary

The Kensington is seeking a Health & Wellness Director (RN or LPN) in Fort Madison, IA, to lead wellness operations and build a strong care team. You will champion resident safety, develop care plans, and ensure regulatory compliance while guiding staff and sustaining exceptional resident care.

In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with residents, families, physicians, and leadership to deliver coordinated, person-centered care and support a positive, accountable team culture.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Iowa RN or LPN license.
• At least 1 year of senior care experience; 3+ years preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory/management experience.
• Strong knowledge of resident assessments, care planning, and meds management.
• Experience with EHR/eMAR and quality assurance.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

What You'll Do

• Lead & Inspire Your Team: Oversee daily wellness operations, recruit, coach, and develop care staff, and build a positive, accountable team culture.

• Champion Quality Resident Care: Oversee resident assessments, individualized care plans, and clinical services, including evaluations before move-in and following changes in condition.

• Drive Clinical Excellence: Maintain high standards of care, oversee EHR/eMAR documentation, conduct quality audits, and ensure regulatory compliance.

• Oversee Medication Management: Monitor medication ordering, storage, administration, and documentation to promote safety and accuracy.

• Build Trusted Relationships: Collaborate with residents, families, physicians, healthcare providers, and community leadership to deliver coordinated, person-centered care.

• Promote Resident Safety: Monitor changes in resident conditions, identify risks, and ensure appropriate interventions and follow-up.

• Develop Your Team: Provide clinical education, mentorship, performance feedback, and training while supporting employee engagement and retention.

• Manage Staffing Needs: Oversee wellness schedules, coordinate coverage, and ensure staffing aligns with resident care needs.

• Partner in Leadership: Work closely with the Executive Director on admissions, quality improvement, and community operations.

What You'll Bring

• Nursing Credentials: Active, unrestricted Iowa RN or LPN license.

• Senior Care Experience: At least one year of experience working with older adults; three or more years preferred, ideally in senior living, assisted living, memory care, or long-term care.

• Leadership Experience: Minimum two years of supervisory or management experience, with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a team.

• Clinical Knowledge: Strong understanding of resident assessments, care planning, medication management, and regulatory compliance.

• Technology Skills: Experience with electronic health records (EHR/eMAR), clinical documentation, and quality assurance.

• Problem-Solving Skills: Sound judgment, strong organization, and the ability to confidently handle changing priorities.

• Communication & Teamwork: Ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, employees, and healthcare partners.

• Schedule Flexibility: Availability to work days, some weekends, participate in an on-call rotation, and assist with after-hours needs.
