City of Fort Wayne – Parks & Recreation Department is hiring an Ice Guard for Headwaters Ice Rink in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The role focuses on monitoring ice activities, ensuring safety, responding to medical emergencies, and assisting with rentals and events.

The position offers a flexible, part-time schedule with opportunities to support community programs, lessons, and private rentals. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and CPR/First Aid certification within two weeks of hire.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• One to three months related experience or equivalent.
• Effective oral and written communication.
• First Aid and CPR certification within two weeks of hire.
• Valid Indiana Driver's License if operating a City vehicle.
• Ice skating experience recommended.

Responsibilities

• Monitor ice activities and ensure safety during public sessions, lessons, hockey games, and events.
• Respond calmly and effectively to medical emergencies.
• Open, close, and secure the facility.
• Distribute and collect rental skates.
• Handle incidents, report disciplinary issues, and assist guests professionally.
• Support private/group rentals and special events.
• Assist with concessions, light cleaning, and inventory management.
• Enforce facility rules and Parks & Recreation policies.
• Communicate professionally with staff, volunteers, and the public.
• Train and supervise volunteers as needed.
• Collect user fees and maintain accurate records.
