Job summary

The City of Shoreview, MN is seeking a Seasonal Ice Rink Attendant to assist with start-up and shut-down, supervise staff, and ensure smooth operation of rink facilities during the December–February season.

You'll coordinate staff schedules, participate in orientation and training, monitor performances, and report maintenance needs. Applicants should be at least 18, with a valid driver’s license and CPR/First Aid/AED training to be provided post-hiring if needed.

• CPR/First Aid/AED and concussion training (provided post-hiring if needed).

Responsibilities

• Assist with season start-up/shut-down and staff orientation/training.
• Administer day-to-day rink operations and monitor staff schedules.
• Supervise rink attendant staff and ensure coverage during open hours.
• Report necessary repairs and coordinate with supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Assist with season start-up/shut-down
  • Conduct interviews alongside supervisor (as needed)
  • Assemble, finalize, and distribute staff manuals & work schedules
  • Prepare sites with equipment and supplies and collect at the conclusion of the season
  • Conduct site visits and report any needed repairs
  • Assist with staff orientation and training
• Administer day-to-day operations of the rink facilities
  • Monitor and adjust employee work schedules to ensure effective and efficient operation
  • Conduct site visits to verify attendants are meeting responsibilities of their position
  • Report necessary repairs
  • Conduct staff orientation and training for new staff hired during the season
  • Recommend additional staff training and conduct as recommended
• Supervise rink attendant staff
  • Monitor staff performance during site visits
  • Address immediate performance issues and follow up with supervisor
  • Ensure Ice Rink Attendants are on duty during all open hours
• Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and participants
• Ability to lift and move 25 pounds
• CPR/First Aid/AED and concussion training (will be provided post-hiring if needed)
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Valid driver’s license

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Supervisory experience
• Previous experience with a parks and recreation agency or related setting

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed primarily at ice rink facilities and may require travel between multiple sites. Position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moving throughout facilities and rink areas during site visits and daily operations. May work in cold temperatures around ice rinks and in varying indoor and outdoor conditions. Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds. Work involves regular interaction with staff and the public and may include exposure to wet or slippery surfaces, facility equipment, and other routine recreational facility hazards.
