Job summary

The role includes pre-season meetings, ensuring ethical conduct, and maintaining compliance with academic and eligibility standards across grades 9-12, with additional duties as required by the athletic department.

Qualifications

• Employment as a teacher (preferred).
• Must complete NM Activities Association online coaching course requirements.
• Valid NM coaching license.
• CPR Certification.
• Three years of specific sport-related experience preferred.
• Girls sport – female candidate preferred.
• Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for the responsibilities listed.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Supervise sport-specific student-athletes and assistant coaches in accordance with district policies and laws.
• Promote and encourage students to participate in sports; treat student-athletes professionally with athletic staff guidance.
• Develop competitive athletic programs that balance academic and athletic success; monitor academic performance.
• Attend pre-season meetings with athletes and parents to discuss philosophy, Code of Ethics, and responsibilities.
• Ensure safe program operations and follow district guidelines for paperwork, eligibility, and transfers.

Education

Employment as a teacher (preferred)

Must complete the New Mexico Activities Association’s online course requirements for coaching

Valid New Mexico coaching license

CPR Certification

Three years specific sport related experience preferred

Girls Sport – Female candidate preferred

Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for performing the responsibilities listed
