Job summary

Save the Children in the United States is seeking a Head Start Teacher to develop and implement educational plans for preschool children, promoting social-emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. You will oversee day-to-day classroom operations and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

You will report to the Center Director or Manager of Education & Inclusion, supervise assistants and work with volunteers to support student progress and program quality.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in child development or related field with ECE coursework.
• Experience teaching preschool-age children.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Develop individualized and group lesson plans to support developmental readiness.
• Ensure a safe, healthy, developmentally appropriate learning environment.
• Maintain records and confidentiality.
• Engage families and conduct home visits as needed.
• Supervise teachers, assistants, volunteers, and collaborate with program aides.
• Adhere to Head Start Program Performance Standards and regulatory requirements.
• Document observations, assessments, and maintain portfolios for each child.
