Job summary

Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois is seeking a Head Start Teacher to oversee classroom curriculum, instruction and assessments in alignment with Head Start standards. You will supervise classroom staff and collaborate with families to support school readiness.

The role requires relevant education, fingerprint background checks, and certifications plus experience with Microsoft tools. It offers comprehensive benefits and a full-time on-site schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; minimum Associate’s degree in early childhood education per Head Start Act.
• Fingerprint and background check as required by 89 ILL. Adm. Code 385.
• Must be at least 21 years old and physically lift 50 pounds.
• CPR, First Aid, Food Protection Manager Certification, Mandated Reporter, and other site certifications.
• Experience with Microsoft applications including SharePoint or similar.
• Illinois State ID and reliable transportation; driving agency vehicle may be required.

Responsibilities

• Plan developmentally appropriate education experiences per Head Start Outcomes & Illinois standards.
• Interact with children using Conscious Discipline techniques.
• Implement Creative Curriculum with fidelity (instruction, assessment, screenings).
• Supervise education and bus staff; perform performance reviews.
• Complete two home visits and two parent-teacher conferences per enrolled family.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and accurate children’s files.
• Lead teaching staff in lesson planning and confidentiality.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings with at least 20 hours in-service annually.
• Assist in recruitment and support family engagement activities.
