Job summary

CREC Head Start seeks a part-time Head Start Teacher Assistant to support a lead teacher in early childhood classrooms. You will assist with lesson preparation, supervise children, and help with documentation and family communication while ensuring health and safety standards.

Responsibilities include implementing activities, managing classroom routines, and collaborating with staff to support two teaching staff per ratio, with opportunities for professional development and coaching.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent required in Early Childhood; CDA preferred.
• High school diploma with plan to obtain required qualifications within one year may be considered.
• Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and licensing regulations desired.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead teacher with lessons, placement of children in activities, and supervision.
• Maintain classroom environment, health, safety, and documentation of progress.
• Communicate with families about child progress and participate in home visits when needed.
• Support meals, diapering, and daily routine in line with Head Start practices.
• Attend staff meetings and engage in ongoing coaching and professional development.
