Job summary

Champlain Valley Head Start is seeking a Head Start Preschool Teacher for Addison County Early Learning Center in Burlington, VT. This role involves co-teaching with another Early Childhood Educator to create safe, developmentally appropriate classrooms for 10 children aged 3–5.

You will work 40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year, with starting pay during probation at $23.73–$28.08/hour and post-probation $24.07–$28.76/hour, depending on credentials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; Vermont educator’s license with ECE endorsement preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in developmentally appropriate early childhood practice, child outcome assessment, child behavior management, and curriculum planning, development and implementation.
• Commitment to social justice and to working with families with limited financial resources; excellent verbal and written communication; documentation and recordkeeping skills.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and access to reliable transportation; physical ability to carry out required tasks.

Job Description

Head Start is a federally-funded, national child and family development program which provides comprehensive services for pregnant women, children from birth to age five, and their families. Services for children promote school readiness, and include early education, health, nutrition, mental health, and services for children with special needs. Services for parents promote family engagement, and include parent leadership and social service supports.

As a Head Start Preschool Teacher, you will coteach with another highly qualified Early Childhood Educator in an outcomes-oriented, team environment, and provide safe, healthy, friendly, and developmentally appropriate environments and experiences for 10 children ages 3–5.
