Job summary

CVOEO is seeking a Head Start Preschool Teacher to coteach with another Early Childhood Educator in a team-centered classroom. You will foster safe, developmentally appropriate experiences for 10 children aged 3–5 and promote family engagement as part of a federally funded Head Start program.

The position runs 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year. A Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education and Vermont teacher licensure are preferred, with salary during probation described below.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Vermont educator’s license with ECE endorsement preferred.
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice and curriculum planning.

Head Start is a federally-funded, national child and family development program which provides comprehensive services for pregnant women, children from birth to age five, and their families. Services for children promote school readiness, and include early education, health, nutrition, mental health, and services for children with special needs. Services for parents promote family engagement, and include parent leadership and social service supports.

Position Summary

As a Head Start Preschool Teacher, you will coteach with another highly qualified Early Childhood Educator in an outcomes-oriented, team environment, and provide safe, healthy friendly, and developmentally appropriate environments and experiences for 10 children ages 3–5. 40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year. Rate of pay during first 60-working day probationary period is $23.73-$28.08/hour depending on credentials; post probationary rate of pay is $24.07-$28.76/ hour depending on credentials.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related education field; Vermont educator’s license with early childhood education endorsement preferred; knowledge and experience in developmentally appropriate early childhood practice, child outcome assessment, child behavior management, and curriculum planning, development and implementation; a commitment to social justice and to working with families with limited financial resources; excellent verbal and written communication (bilingual abilities a plus!), documentation, and recordkeeping skills; valid driver’s license, clean driving record and access to reliable transportation; physical ability to carry out required tasks.
