Job summary

Capstone Community Action, Inc. in Morrisville, VT seeks a Head Start Preschool Teacher to create a safe, engaging early learning environment for young children and their families.

You will conduct home visits, communicate regularly with families, and collaborate with staff to deliver Head Start services while meeting Performance Standards and licensing requirements. 40-hour work week, 401K with employer match, health/dental/vision insurance, paid holidays, and professional development

Job description

Since 1965, Capstone Community Action has supported individuals and families in Central Vermont in achieving economic and housing stability and rising out of poverty. Capstones early childhood education and family services are central to its mission, offering center-based and home-based Head Start and Early Head Start programs that support positive child, family, and community outcomes that use a whole-child approach and actively engage parents as partners in their childrens early learning and development. Capstones Head Start Program is looking for a caring, energetic, and dedicated Preschool Teacher to join our team in our Morrisville, VT location.

Head Start Preschool Teacher

The Head Start Preschool Teacher provides a safe and supportive learning environment for young children. This position works with families to support each child’s development through regular communication, home visits, and family engagement activities. The Preschool Teacher collaborates with program staff to deliver early childhood education services and ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, state licensing requirements, and program policies.

Mandatory Requirements

• Must be able to lift 50lbs or more.
• Must be able to assist preschoolers in navigating stairs, playground equipment and changing tables. Must be able to quickly catch up with a fleeing preschooler.
• Commitment to working collaboratively as part of a team while maintaining a flexible schedule that includes occasional evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• BA. in early childhood education or an advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education. Vermont State Professional Educators license in early childhood (preferred). Must be able to lift 50lbs or more. Reliable transportation, valid Vermont driver's license and proof of insurance. ***Other Skills and/or Qualifications:***
• Excellent communication skills with young children and adults.
• Working knowledge of community resources, parenting issues, adult learning styles, and sensitivity to the needs of low-income families.

Compensation

• Competitive Pay: $22.23 - $27.34 per hour!

Work Hours

• 40-hour Week: Monday through Friday!
