Job Summary:
We are seeking a high-energy, dedicated Lead Head Start / Pre-K Teacher to manage our preschool classroom (ages 3–5). In this role, you will be the captain of your classroom ecosystem—designing a safe, stimulating, and print-rich environment where child biology and natural brain wiring are honored. You will implement process-focused creative learning, observe child progress systematically, and build responsive, cooperative relationships with our families.
Key Responsibilities
- Intentional Instruction: Plan and execute high-quality, play-based lesson plans aligned with Ohio Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS) to foster cognitive, physical, language, and social-emotional growth.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a highly organized, safe, clean, and dynamic learning environment that rejects restrictive care and instead encourages active physical exploration.
- Child Observations & Assessments: Conduct regular, objective child observations (anecdotal logs, matrix tracking) to monitor developmental milestones, customize individual learning tracks, and establish clear next steps.
- Family Partnerships: Establish positive, responsive, and open communication with parents and guardians; conduct parent-teacher conferences to share developmental wins and milestones.
- Compliance & Excellence: Maintain flawless classroom records, health logs, and attendance tracking in accordance with ODJFS licensing and SUTQ Gold Award frameworks.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or a related field preferred; OR a current, valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with significant classroom experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience leading a classroom in a licensed childcare facility (Head Start, ECE Grant, or highly-rated SUTQ center experience is a major plus).
- Skills: Strong understanding of child development, process-focused art, behavioral scaffolding, and positive guidance techniques.
- Requirements: Must pass a comprehensive background check (BCI/FBI fingerprinting), a physical medical exam, and hold (or be willing to obtain) CPR, First Aid, and Common Childhood Illness certifications.
Benefits & Perks
- Holiday pay
- Professional development assistance and tuition reimbursement support (including CDA renewal pathway assistance)
- Clear career advancement tracks within a growing organization
- A supportive, championship-minded team culture where your monthly wins are actively celebrated!
Schedule
- 8-hour shift
