Job summary

Washington Elementary School District is seeking a Teacher - Head Start to supervise the Head Start staff and lead the program at the school, ensuring compliance with Head Start standards, district policies, and state requirements.

You will develop developmentally appropriate instruction, coordinate screenings and referrals, maintain enrollment and personnel records, and collaborate with families and district partners to support each child’s progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and Arizona teaching certificate (Early Childhood or Elementary) with endorsement.
• SEI requirements and IVP fingerprint clearance.
• Health, TB, First Aid, CPR, and food handler certifications required before hire.

Responsibilities

• Develops and instructs developmentally appropriate practices and lesson plans aligned with district requirements and state standards.
• Supervises Head Start staff, manages workloads, and conducts performance evaluations.
• Ensures licensing/DHS compliance and maintains accreditation documentation.
• Creates newsletters and family communications; promotes family involvement and progress reporting.
• Coordinates developmental screenings and referrals; participates in IEP meetings and supports students' needs.
