Job summary

Action Inc. seeks an exceptional Head Start Director to lead its Head Start program in Southwest Montana.

The role drives educational quality, health, nutrition, and family engagement while shaping the futures of children and families in the community. You will supervise a multidisciplinary team, ensure Head Start standards compliance, oversee operations, and collaborate with the Policy Council and community partners to deliver high-quality services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Human Services, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
• Experience supervising staff and managing budgets per Head Start standards.
• Ability to lead and develop a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to interpret Head Start regulations and organizational policies.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of ~40 staff with a culture of trust, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and grant requirements.
• Oversee all program operations: education, health, nutrition, transportation, family engagement, enrollment, and special services.
• Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with the Fiscal Department.
• Build partnerships with families, community organizations, and local agencies.
• Coach and develop managers and staff; foster professional growth and service quality.
• Collaborate with Policy Council and executive partners.
• Ensure safe, welcoming facilities and learning environments.
