Job summary

Organized Community Action Program Inc is seeking a Head Start/Early Head Start Director to supervise the overall program, provide direction to the Policy Council, and ensure operations align with Head Start Performance Standards. The role involves administrative, financial, and program planning duties within a Southeast region office.

The candidate should hold a relevant Bachelor's degree and have nonprofit leadership experience, including budget development and staff training capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in ECE, Business/Public/Education/Health Administration or related field; plus five years non-profit experience, of which two years in managerial/supervision.
• Two years of budget development responsibility.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Current physical examination and TB screen documentation upon hire.
• Adequate means of transportation.
• Head Start experience.
• Community service experience.
• Ability to coordinate and/or conduct training sessions.
• Multi-cultural experience.

Responsibilities

• Promote professional growth and development of content area staff.
• Assist with and meet fiscal funding source requirements with Fiscal Officer via internal controls.
• Assist in developing program budgets and monitor expenditures for conformance.
• Maintain accurate and prompt reports and records.
• Attend Administrative Team & Board/Policy Council meetings and report to Executive Director.
• Supervise staff employing agency policies and develop staff skills.
• Ensure facility licenses for centers are current.
• Conduct performance evaluations for FSS I staff twice yearly.
• Ensure safety, legal, program and licensing requirements are met.
• Assist in securing Head Start/Early Head Start facility space as needed.
• Provide leadership for building practices in Head Start facilities.
