Job summary

Save the Children in the United States is seeking a Program Aide to support infants, toddlers and preschoolers across Head Start sites. You will assist classroom staff, help with daily activities, and may substitute for teachers as needed, reporting to the Education & Inclusion Manager or Center Director.

The role emphasizes safety, child abuse prevention, and adherence to Head Start standards. You may rotate through classrooms, kitchens, and buses, perform janitorial and kitchen tasks, and

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work with diverse families.
• Must obtain basic first aid and pediatric CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of working with infants, toddlers and preschool children.
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom staff in all classroom activities and during program operations.
• Provide custodial and kitchen assistance as needed and support daily operations.
• Serve as a temporary substitute for teachers and participate in family events and workshops.
• Uphold Head Start standards, safety, confidentiality, and child safeguarding obligations.
• Engage with children and families to promote development and well‑being.
