Job summary

LULAC Head Start Inc. in New Haven, CT seeks a Head Teacher for our Infant and Toddler Head Start program to provide a nurturing, safe, and stimulating learning environment for children aged six weeks to three years.

You will lead a team of teachers and assistants to deliver high-quality education and care. Responsibilities include developing an age-appropriate curriculum, conducting ongoing assessments, and partnering with families to support each child’s development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Early Childhood Education with 12 ECE credits.
• Minimum of three years of experience with infants and toddlers in childcare or educational settings.
• Knowledge of early childhood development and best practices for teaching young children.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise a team of teachers and assistants to provide quality education and care for infants and toddlers.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
• Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor children's progress and adjust curriculum and activities as needed.
• Collaborate with parents and families to support children's learning and development.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment that meets all licensing and regulatory requirements.
• Provide guidance and support to teachers and assistants to ensure they meet program standards and expectations.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
