Job summary

Shasta Head Start Child Development’s Oakview Center in Redding, CA is seeking a Cook Aide to support kitchen operations under the supervision of the Head Teacher or Site Supervisor. You will assist the Cook in all aspects of kitchen management per County, CACFP, and Head Start guidelines.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and up to six months of related food service experience; basic math, ability to read and interpret documents, and teamwork are valued, with a focus on safe knife

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Six months related experience desired.
• Ability to write reports and read and interpret documents.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to solve practical problems.
• Ability to work as a positive team member.
• Safe and efficient knife handling.

Responsibilities

• Assist cook in all areas of food ordering, preparation, serving and clean-up.
• Transport food and other items as needed.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
• Set-up and clean-up of meal time environment.
• Perform additional center duties as assigned by supervisor.
