Job summary

Easterseals Southern California seeks an Associate Teacher for the Early Head Start/Head Start program. Under supervision, you will plan and evaluate a developmentally appropriate curriculum and act as Site Supervisor, delivering care and education to assigned children throughout the program.

Qualifications

• B.A. degree in early childhood education, child development or related field.
• Must possess and maintain a Child Development Teacher Permit; ongoing education to qualify for permit/CDA.
• Experience teaching in a preschool or infant/toddler classroom; 350 days of 3+ hours per day within 4 years.
• Pediatric CPR and first aid certification, plus a food handler’s certificate.

Responsibilities

• Educate assigned children in the classroom and support primary caregiving, ensuring safety and supervision.
• Plan, implement and supervise an inclusive curriculum per Head Start standards and ESSC policies; conduct home visits and conferences.
• Create individual child goals with parent input; maintain weekly lesson plans, progress notes and assessments.
• Coordinate classroom meetings; support volunteers and interns; participate in staff and parent meetings and trainings.
• Coordinate parent education for pregnant women including prenatal education and health resources.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
