Job summary

Easterseals Southern California seeks an Associate Teacher to deliver a developmentally appropriate curriculum in the Early Head Start/Head Start program. You will support primary caregiving, plan lessons, and engage families to promote child learning and well-being.

Under supervision, you’ll conduct home visits, maintain documentation, and participate in staff meetings and trainings to ensure high-quality early education for infants, toddlers, and young children.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or national equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit.
• Must meet CA pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.
• Must possess food handler’s certificate.
• Experience teaching in a preschool or infant/toddler classroom.
• Must complete California-mandated Child Abuse Reporter Training and Pesticide Safety Training.
• Proficient with MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Skype).

Responsibilities

• Plans, implements and evaluates a developmentally appropriate and inclusive curriculum for Head Start children.
• Provides safety, supervision and primary caregiving support in the classroom.
• Maintains weekly lesson plans, progress notes and required paperwork.
• Conducts home visits and parent conferences within required timelines.
• Coordinates parent education and trainings and supports prenatal education resources.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
