Job summary

Gateway Community Action in Flemingsburg, Kentucky, is seeking a part-time instructional assistant to support teachers and help implement classroom curricula for Head Start children. You will assist with daily activities, monitor child progress, and aid in maintaining a safe learning environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist teaching staff with implementation of curricula in the classroom.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment and monitor student safety.
  • Assist in IFSP/IEP processes and support program compliance with standards.
  • Collaborate with parents to strengthen home-school connections and share information about readiness.
  • Track and assess child progress and coordinate with community partners as needed.

Summary/ObjectivePerforms a combination of instructional tasks to assist and support the teacher, the goals and objectives ofindividual children, and the overall classroom environment.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essentialfunctions. Complies with the Head Start Performance Standards and all applicable local, state, and federallaws. Participates in assigned meetings, events, and training as required. Days and hours of work are planned in advance and schedule isprovided at the beginning of each program year. In order to meet the needs of the agency, permanent ortemporary changes and/or modifications to the schedule may occur as dictated by management.TravelTravel is primarily local during the business day, although out-of-area travel may be expected uponnotice.Required Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma/General Education DegreePreferred Education and ExperienceChild Development AssociateAdditional RequirementsValid Kentucky driver’s license, reliable transportation, and satisfactory background checks.
