Job summary

Gateway Community Services is seeking an Area Coordinator to supervise an early childhood program and lead staff across five county jurisdictions. You will ensure classroom coverage, staff development, and compliance with federal mandates while coordinating with program managers on strategic plans.

The role requires hands-on oversight, reporting, and collaboration with administrative staff to promote quality service delivery and community engagement.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with at least 2 years of management experience.
  • Preferred: Associate’s Degree or higher in Business Administration or related field with 5 years’ management experience.
  • Experience in budget development and fiscal management is a plus.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and Internet usage.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational supervision of the early childhood program and staff.
  • Maintain child ratios and classroom coverage.
  • Complete documentation and timely reporting of records.
  • Conduct staff performance reviews and professional development.
  • Coordinate with program managers to align with goals.
  • Attend meetings and trainings; participate in IEP/IFSP meetings.
  • Utilize CHILDPUS and Teaching Strategies databases for data and outcomes.
  • Travel within five county jurisdiction as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with agency policies and federal mandates.

Job description

Summary/ObjectiveThe Area Coordinator is responsible for taking a systematic approach to all program related activities toensure efficient and effective service delivery in each service area.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essentialfunctions. Provide operational supervision of assigned early childhood program. Follow and implement all agency policies and procedures as well as federal mandates related tothe HS Program Performance Standards. Coordinate efforts with program Managers to create strategic plans align with program goals andobjectives. Responsible for building effective local work teams, ensuring adequate classroom coverage, andchild ratios are maintained at all times. Complete required documentation of relevant activities and submit records and reports in a timelyand accurate manner. Communicate consistently with the Administrative Specialist. Provide direct supervision, work activity, leave time. Engage parent/community participation to reach the program’s non-federal share target. Conduct an annual performance review for assigned staff and develop goals for continuedimprovement. Plan and conduct center staff meetings to address program and staff training needs. Maintain knowledge and proficiency of applicable database systems such as CHILDPLUS andTeaching Strategies for monitoring child and family data and/or outcomes. Responsible for ordering supplies. Participate in regularly scheduled meetings/trainings in and outside the service area. Responsible for direct flow of daily operational communication from component area managersto center level staff. Exhibit willingness to promote and enhance programming in the local area through communitycollaborations and local work groups. Conduct monitoring activities per schedule. Provide written feedback regarding daily operations based on on-site observations monitoring toensure safe and positive work environments. Build trusting, supportive relationships with assigned staff. Attend IEP/IFSP meetings when available and/or necessary. Participate in assigned meetings, events and training as required. Typical work hours will be Monday – Fridays 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.However, in order to meet the needs of the agency, permanent or temporary changes and/or modificationsto the schedule may occur as dictated by management.TravelTravel is primarily within the five county jurisdiction. Out-of-area and overnight travel is intermittent.Must be willing and available to participate in required and/or requested professional developmentopportunities.Required Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or General Education Degree with a minimum of 2 years experience inmanagement.Preferred Education and ExperienceAssociate’s Degree or higher in Business Administration, Business Management or a related field with 5years’ experience in management. Experience in budget development and fiscal management is a plus.Additional Eligibility QualificationsWell versed in Excel, Word, & Internet usage. Ability to use required software for purposes of tracking,monitoring, and reporting.Additional RequirementsValid Kentucky driver’s license, reliable transportation, satisfactory criminal background, Child Abuseand Neglect check, a satisfactory TB assessment and physical examination. Pass a pre-employment drugtest and random drug testing as required. State required minimum vehicle liability insurance anduninsured motorist insurance.
