Job summary

GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission, Incorporated seeks a Head Start Case Worker to support preschoolers and families through social services, health coordination, and educational support. You will interview families, assess needs, and connect them with healthcare, housing, and community resources.

The role emphasizes collaboration with schools, clinics, and family services to promote child development, safety, and family well‑being.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Social Services or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of two years work experience in a social services environment.
• Computer savviness, especially Microsoft products.
• Must be able to work well on a team.
• Valid South Carolina Driver’s License is required.
• Commercial Driver’s License is required or must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Ability to meet the following physical requirements: prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; lift up to 15 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Interview clients individually, in families, or in groups, assessing their situations, capabilities, and problems to determine services required.
• Develop a coordinated family service plan including healthcare for each family.
• Initiate contacts with community support services addressing comprehensive needs.
• Maintain case history records and prepare reports (attendance, screenings, immunizations).
• Refer clients to community resources for services and provide concrete information on where to go and how to apply.
• Liaise between students, homes, schools, family services, clinics, courts, and other contacts to assist children facing disabilities, abuse, or poverty.
• Counsel students whose behavior or mental/physical impairment indicates need for assistance and arrange needed services.
• Organize family meetings, provide training, and keep notes/minutes.
