Job summary

Sweda is seeking a Family Services Coordinator to create, coordinate, and deliver services for families and communities, supporting child health functions and advocacy for families within Head Start.

The role involves liaison duties among families, staff, and community services, with responsibilities for eligibility, enrollment, and event coordination to promote well-being and program participation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in social services or related field preferred.
• Willingness to obtain credential or certification in social work or related area within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Creates and maintains a positive work environment by ensuring staff feel heard and valued.
• Educates and engages parents/guardians to obtain age-appropriate health screenings with follow-ups.
• Maintains health files and follows confidentiality guidelines.
• Identifies and recruits Head Start eligible families and children, including vulnerable populations.
• Interviews parents/guardians and determines best placement as directed by policy.
• Monitors attendance and follows up on frequent absences.
• Represents Head Start by attending community meetings and events.
• Hosts family/community events to promote engagement and the Head Start mission.
