Job summary

Ponca Tribe of Nebraska seeks an executive leader to oversee the Head Start & Early Head Start program in Nebraska. You will manage planning, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement to deliver culturally responsive services to children, pregnant women, and families.

You will work with tribal leadership, the Policy Council, and community partners to meet performance standards and program goals, while overseeing staff and programs for long-term impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with supervisory, fiscal management, and program administration experience.
• Experience overseeing complex programs, budgets, staff, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience in early childhood education, tribal administration, or Head Start/ Early Head Start preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate Head Start and Early Head Start planning, design, implementation, and daily operations.
• Prepare and monitor program budgets; oversee expenditures and procurement.
• Submit grant applications, reports, and required submissions to federal and tribal authorities.
• Provide timely program, financial, enrollment, and monitoring data to governance bodies.
• Supervise and coach coordinators and staff; set performance expectations and corrective actions.
• Lead staff recruitment, orientation, and personnel decisions per tribal policy.
