Job summary

Mid-Cumberland Community Action Agency in Springfield, TN invites applications for the Head Start Teacher Assistant. This full-time role supports the classroom Teacher in day-to-day operations and may serve as a substitute when the Teacher is absent.

Responsibilities include planning daily lessons, assessing each child’s development for individualized support, making home visits, communicating with parents, assisting meals and cleanup, and participating in trainings and meetings.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; CDA credential or Associate’s degree preferred.
• Must obtain CDA credential within 12 months of hire.
• Experience: Preschool or child care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning daily lessons and activities; assume major classroom responsibilities as needed.
• Assist with assessment of each child’s development to individualize support.
• Make home visits and engage with parents to address issues and solutions.
• Keep parents informed through conferences, letters, newsletters, and calls.
• Assist with meals, classroom cleanup, and training participation.
• Recruit children for Head Start and attend meetings and trainings.
