Job summary

YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South's Grace Early Learning Center in Cordova, TN is hiring a Head Start Assistant Teacher for a full-time role. You will support classroom teachers, provide nurturing care, and help implement age-appropriate activities to support early learning goals.

The position requires at least 18 years old, CDA credential, and enrollment in a degree program with completion planned within two years. Work hours are typically 8:00 am–6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• At a minimum, Child Development Associate (CDA).
• Enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate's or bachelor's degree.
• Enrolled in a CDA program to complete within two years of the time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers and lead teachers in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities.
• Provide excellent and nurturing care to all children.
• Maintain rosters and assist with sign-in/sign-out.
• Follow daily schedule and complete parent reports and use communication tools.
• Support safe and stimulating program spaces.
• Serve meals and snacks to children.
• Maintain compliance with state regulations and YMCA policies.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in events.
