Job summary

Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma Head Start program seeks an Assistant Teacher or Teacher's Aide to support learning and safety in a nurturing environment. Under supervision of the Lead Teacher you will assist with implementing weekly lesson plans and promote school readiness while following Head Start policies.

You will help maintain a clean classroom, communicate with parents, and assist with transportation duties as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Must submit to pre-employment drug test with random testing.
Must complete physical exam with TB test within 2 weeks of hire and annually thereafter.
Must complete Head Start Orientation (ELCCT, First Aid/CPR, Food Handler's Certification) within 90 days.
Must complete DHS Orientation.

Responsibilities

Maintain compliance with DHS licensing requirements.
Abide by 45 CFR Chapter XIII, Head Start Program Performance Standards.
Comply with applicable federal, state and tribal regulations, policies and procedures.
Assist Lead Teacher and/or Teacher's Aide to promote school readiness; follow curriculum and weekly lesson plans (My Teaching Strategies).
Maintain a clean, neat classroom; keep toys and equipment clean and in good condition.
Establish and maintain good communications with parents and staff.
Advocate and act as liaison for Head Start children and families.
Act as bus monitor for transportation of children to Head Start events.
Other duties as assigned.
