Job summary

Macon Program for Progress is seeking a Head Start / Early Head Start Classroom Assistant to support the Lead Teacher in delivering developmentally appropriate learning experiences. You will work in a Head Start classroom, following BSD policies and ensuring safe, nurturing daily routines for young children.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, CPR/First Aid within 6 weeks, and basic reading comprehension to follow instructions. CDL may be required or pursued after hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Twenty hours in-service training in Early Childcare Education topics.
• Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification within the first 6 weeks of hire date.
• Two years' experience working with children preferred.
• CDL required or willingness and ability to obtain.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teaching staff in assigned classrooms.
• Follow the daily lesson plan for the classroom.
• Apply early childhood development theory to activities and adapt to each child's needs.
• Supervise children and maintain safety according to rules and routines.
• Relate to children in a calm, nurturing manner using age-appropriate guidance.
• Attend training, support children and families, and work well with others.

Skills
