Job summary

Tri-county Community Action Agency is seeking a dedicated assistant to support the Head Start classroom, assisting the Lead Teacher in creating developmentally appropriate activities for children and helping implement individual plans. Qualifications

• Must have a CDA or enroll in CDA program or in early childhood coursework toward an associate or bachelor degree.
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must have a car available daily.
• Must be able to read and write sufficiently to maintain proper records.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head/Group Teacher in planning and implementing educational activities.
• Assist in observing, screening, assessing, and documenting children's growth.
• Carry out administrative duties as delegated by the teacher.
• Assume Teacher responsibilities in the Teacher's absence.
• Prepare and maintain records or reports, including daily attendance and in-kind records.
• Participate in weekly staff meetings and trainings.
• Encourage parent/volunteer involvement and accompany home visits/parent-teacher conferences.
• Coordinate classroom volunteer program.
• Any other Head Start tasks as delegated by Teacher or management.
