Job summary

Jefferson Franklin Community Action Corporation is seeking a Center Assistant for its Head Start program. This on-site role supports teachers, prepares learning spaces, and helps provide a safe, structured environment for children.

You will assist with daily activities, document observations, and engage families to promote home-school connections, while upholding health and safety standards and compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED/HiSet; education must be verified before hire
• Willing to submit to Criminal Background Screenings

Responsibilities

• Provide daily classroom assistance to ensure high-quality early learning experiences
• Assist in preparing classroom environment and materials for developmentally appropriate lessons
• Document observations and assessments; adjust teaching practices to support each child
• Collaborate with Teacher on curriculum and lesson plan modifications to meet IFSP/IEP goals
• Engage families; promote parent involvement and communication regarding child development
• Monitor health and safety; maintain a clean, safe learning environment
• Support documentation and attendance records; participate in training and meetings
• Perform other duties as assigned to support site operations
