Job summary

UMATILLA-MORROW COUNTY HEAD START INC in Milton-Freewater, OR seeks a Teacher Assistant to support preschool teachers in delivering quality, safe, and nurturing learning environments focused on school readiness across social, emotional, educational, physical, and nutritional goals.

Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, ensuring consistent instruction and safety, managing sign-in/out, and facilitating family nights and conferences with an emphasis on child development.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• CDA credential or State-awarded ORO certificate for preschool teachers, or approved 15-credit ECE certificate, or associate degree or higher in ECE/Child Development.
• One year of experience in an early childhood setting preferred.
• Current First Aid/CPR and Food Handling cards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Teacher in preparing, implementing, evaluating daily activities.
• Assist Teacher in ensuring children are taught and supervised consistently.
• Maintain sight and sound of children at all times.
• Lead classroom for half of the children when Teacher is absent.
• Support family nights and parent conferences with education components.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized classroom and equipment.
• Assist with transportation-related supervision and safety on field trips or bus rides.
