Job summary

Umatilla-Morrow Head Start, Inc. is seeking a Teachers Assistant to support teachers in implementing preschool programs that foster safe, nurturing environments for children to grow and learn. Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, supervision, and preparing materials to meet school readiness goals.

You will support transportation, meal times, hygiene routines, and parental involvement while ensuring all safety and regulatory requirements are followed.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent is required.
• Head Start Associate Teachers must meet listed qualifications at hire or within two years.
• Early Head Start Associate Teachers must meet listed qualifications at hire or within two years.
• CDA credential, or
• State-awarded ORO certificate for preschool teachers (step 7 or above), or
• Approved 15-credit Early Childhood Education (ECE) certificate, or
• Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Development

Responsibilities

• Assist the Teacher in preparing, implementing, and evaluating daily classroom activities
• Assist the Teacher in ensuring that children are taught and supervised consistently
• Assist the Teacher in ensuring all children are within sight and sound at all times
• Take responsibility for the children when the Teacher is not present
• Take the primary lead for 5 children in the classroom, track, and document child goal development
• Assist the Teacher and parents in providing for children’s daily needs and routines
• Assist the Teacher in ensuring all children are signed in and out by the parent daily using attendance forms
• Assist the Teacher and parents in maintaining a safe and healthy environment
• Share responsibility for cleanliness, including janitorial duties as assigned
• Assist in planning and involving parents and children in nutritious meals and cleanup
• Assist with daily personal hygiene tasks for children
• Provide appropriate care for children with disabilities
• Encourage parents to attend monthly Family Nights
• Attend Family Night activities when required
• Provide input to teachers for conferences and monthly tracking
• Use the teacher and resource library for assistance
• Maintain positive communication with parents
