Job summary

Kids & Company of Linn County is hiring a Teacher Aide to support classrooms serving Head Start children aged 0–5 in Linn and Benton counties. The role focuses on daily classroom operations, material preparation, and smooth transitions to foster developmental progress in social, emotional, physical, and cognitive domains.

The position offers full-time or part-time hours, with wage starting at $18.01 per hour and a 6% increase for bilingual Spanish/English skills.

Qualifications

• Education requirement: high school diploma or GED.
• Experience with children in target age group (0-3 and 3-5) is preferred.
• Ability to maintain written and computerized educational record keeping systems in an organized and accurate manner.
• Sensitivity to individual and group needs or adults and children in target area; knowledge of child development and family dynamics preferred.
• Experience assisting in the development and implementation of classroom plans preferred.
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, staff and public.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance in assigned classrooms to gather and prepare materials.
• Follow a consistent schedule which includes small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, skill development, two meals and effective transitions between activities.
• Provide supervision for small group activities.
• Work with individual or small groups of children.
• Perform classroom and center cleaning tasks as needed and as directed.
• Attend and participate in program meetings as requested by supervisor.
• Complete all areas of responsibility in compliance with program code of conduct and confidentiality policies.
