Job summary

GOEBEL FIXTURE COMPANY is seeking a Bus Monitor to supervise children on the Head Start bus route. You will greet families, maintain a positive, safe riding environment, and work with the Bus Driver to ensure children are secure during transit.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, ability to assist in emergencies, and compliance with health and background checks. Prior experience with young children is preferred and essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Pass a physical examination and be able to physically assist children, including lifting as needed.
• Pass a TB test as part of health requirements.
• Pass a Criminal and Background Check.
• Pass a Child Abuse Clearance.
• Knowledge of Head Start transportation services and safety procedures.
• Ability to write reports and communicate in English, with consideration for the children’s language needs.
• Experience working with young children preferred.

Responsibilities

• Train for duties before assignment to vehicle.
• Ensure safety during boarding and exiting the vehicle.
• Use Child Safety Restraint Systems (CSRS) properly.
• Assist with pre- and post-trip vehicle checks.
• Manage paperwork and reporting.
• Follow agency procedures for child pickup and release.
• Collaborate with Bus Driver to teach safety procedures to children.
• Engage children during the ride with appropriate activities and reinforce classroom learning.
• Report any observed child abuse or neglect.
• Participate in professional development with Head Start staff.
