Job summary

Catholic Charities Community Services is seeking an Assistant Teacher I to join our Head Start program in Tolleson, AZ. This full-time role supports teachers, prepares lesson plans, and assists with family outreach and assessments throughout the school year.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with enrollment in CDA or higher in ECE, and preference for bilingual candidates. Strong classroom presence and familiarity with Head Start are valued; flexible, team-oriented

Qualifications

• Must read/write English and understand basic math.
• Head Start standards familiarity preferred.
• Second language proficiency (Spanish or other) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Teacher and classroom functions within Head Start program.
• Help develop and implement weekly lesson plans.
• Assist in observations for Fall/Winter/Spring assessments and Education Plan.
• Conduct two parent conferences and two educational home visits.
• Document health information and screenings within 45 days of enrollment.
• Support children with disabilities and adapt as needed.
• Ensure CACFP guidelines and food service paperwork are followed.
• Possess mandatory reporting responsibilities for abuse/neglect.
• Assist with emergency plans and monthly safety drills.
• May substitute in other classrooms as needed.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement efforts.
