Job summary

North Coast Opportunities, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Teacher for Head Start. The role supports the Lead Teacher in implementing the Head Start curriculum, ensuring child safety, and engaging families in the education process.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are preferred to serve a diverse community. You will help plan activities, observe child development, and assist with documentation, meetings, and parent involvement, while maintaining a positive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Clear verbal and written communication in English.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and with families.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher in planning and implementing Head Start curriculum.
• Support health and safety of children and maintain records.
• Conduct observations and developmental assessments; assist with field trips and activities.
• Orient and guide parent volunteers; participate in curriculum planning meetings.
• Assist with daily classroom management and provide individual assistance to children.
• Maintain facilities and classroom materials; comply with Head Start standards.
