Job summary

MAAC Head Start program in Rincon Center, Valley Center, CA seeks an assistant to support planning and implementation of the early childhood education curriculum under the Lead Teacher’s supervision. You will help in daily activities, classroom management and parent engagement to promote readiness for 3- to 5-year-olds.

Requirements include a high school diploma, 12 ECE units or equivalent, and a CDA or state permit.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 12 units (including core units) from an accredited college/university in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
• California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or CDA credential.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
• One year Head Start experience in a classroom setting (preferred).
• CPR, First Aid and Food Handler Cards must be obtained within the first two months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides input into daily classroom activities and lesson plans.
• Assists in designing and implementing classroom activities to meet individual child needs.
• Supports the approved curriculum and multi-cultural education.
• Maintains a safe, healthy, engaging learning environment and assists with classroom setup.
• Fosters positive relationships with parents and volunteers.
• Assists with home visits and developing Individual Family Plans.
• Performs attendance, meal counts, and related record-keeping.
• Supports in ensuring special services for children with special needs.
