Job summary

Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. seeks a Teacher Assistant to support planning and implementing a center-based classroom for ages 3-5 in our Early Childhood Development program. You will work with the Teacher to promote school readiness and family engagement while adhering to Head Start standards and CPLC procedures.

You will help supervise and educate children, ensuring health and safety, as well as using computer-based systems and standard office software to support daily operations.

Qualifications

• CDA or state credential meets/exceeds requirements
• 6 months experience in early childhood development setting
• 12 college credits including 6 in ECD or related field
• Enrolled in CDA credential program to be completed within 1 year
• Foreign education evaluated for equivalency to USA standards (if applicable)

Responsibilities

• Assist and partner with the Teacher to implement developmentally appropriate care and education for children 3-5 in a center-based classroom.
• Promote school readiness and family support as part of a center-based interdisciplinary team.
• Ensure health, safety and regulatory compliance (Head Start standards, etc.).
• Supervise children by sight and sound in all environments.
• Facilitate health practices and safe transportation/indoor-outdoor safety.
