Job summary

Mount Sinai Health System, a leading center for sleep medicine, seeks a Lead Sleep Technologist to oversee and perform comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including in-center and out-of-center sleep testing, diagnostics and patient education.

The role requires extensive expertise in polysomnography, data scoring, patient safety and adherence to AASM guidelines, with responsibilities spanning protocol development, quality assurance and staff coordination.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or the equivalent.
• Associate or higher degree program in polysomnographic technology preferred.
• 5 years minimum experience as a Polysomnographic Technician or Technologist.
• Authorized Polysomnographic Technologist licensed in New York State in good standing
• Certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds the Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential.
• Current CPR or BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information to identify patient-specific needs.
• Reviews the patients history and verifies the medical order; follows center protocols.
• Explains the procedure and orients the patient for testing, in center or out of center.
• Selects appropriate equipment and calibrates for testing to determine proper functioning.
• Performs data acquisition and ensures artifact-free signals for scoring.
• Scores sleep/wake stages and clinical events per guidelines.
