Job summary

The Chief Ranger of Maintenance and Operations at Machicomoco State Park in Virginia oversees supervision and maintenance of facilities, grounds, and equipment to meet safety and regulatory standards. The role includes budgeting, program support, volunteer management, and coordination of special events.

Ideal candidates have strong supervisory experience, public service skills, and proven ability to manage maintenance projects, schedules, and asset records using maintenance software.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers.
• Public-facing customer service experience.
• Custodial and preventive maintenance skills for buildings, equipment, and grounds.
• Ability to plan and budget maintenance projects at an operational level.
• Ability to use digital software to keep records up to date.

Responsibilities

• Oversee frontline maintenance operations at the park.
• Schedule and complete routine maintenance projects with staff.
• Recruit and supervise staff, volunteers, and work program participants.
• Maintain park facilities, buildings, trails, and grounds.
• Assist with park budgets and annual operating plan.
• Use maintenance software for scheduling, asset tracking, and reports.
• Develop and manage construction/site improvement projects and natural resource work.
