Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Director of Transportation to own the multimodal freight strategy across a large manufacturing network. You will negotiate major carrier contracts, analyze freight cost drivers with data-driven insights, and report to senior leadership.

You’ll build a high-impact team and drive tangible savings while ensuring reliable service across sites. You will lead sourcing across truckload, rail, ocean, air, and 3PL, develop financial models, and establish KPI dashboards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field.
• 10+ years in transportation, logistics, or procurement with leadership experience.
• Shipper-side experience managing multimodal freight spend in a multi-site environment.
• Proven track record in freight bids, carrier negotiations, and contracting.
• Hands-on experience with TMS and freight analytics.
• Strong financial acumen and ability to translate market trends into business impact.
• Confident communicator who can influence plant leaders and executives.

Responsibilities

• Lead sourcing strategy across truckload, LTL, rail, ocean, air, warehousing, and 3PL.
• Run major freight bids, carrier negotiations, and contract renewals.
• Build executive-level relationships with strategic carriers and partners.
• Create KPI scorecards and lead regular business reviews.
• Collaborate with plant, supply chain, planning, and finance to optimize routing and carrier mix.
• Develop financial models to explain freight cost drivers and forecast impacts.
• Deliver annual savings, cost avoidance, and productivity goals while maintaining service.
• Identify and reduce risk around capacity and supply chain disruption.
• Lead the evolution of transportation technology and procurement teams.
• Travel about 25-40% to sites and key partners.
