Job summary

Motional is hiring a Senior Manager for Test Engineering to lead the five Test Engineering areas, direct managers and senior leads, and align with company objectives. You will own talent planning, performance reviews, and cross-functional collaboration with Product, Software Engineering, Safety, and adjacent teams.

You will set goals, drive delivery on a 3–6 month horizon, remove blockers, and guide teams through escalation when needed. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience managing engineering teams, including experience managing other managers or senior leads.
• A track record of owning team results, headcount and priority tradeoffs, and goals tied to organizational objectives.
• Clear written and verbal communication, including presentations to senior leadership.
• Sound judgment on performance, staffing, and cross-team conflict.
• Working familiarity with test engineering in complex, safety-relevant systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the managers and senior individual contributors responsible for the five Test Engineering areas.
• Coach those leaders so they can develop their own people and address performance issues.
• Own talent planning for the organization, including hiring and onboarding.
• Recommend compensation, merit, and promotions for your teams.
• Set goals across all areas and drive delivery on a three-to-six-month horizon.
• Guide teams on removing blockers and escalate when needed.
• Represent Test Engineering to senior and executive leadership; align with company objectives.
