Job summary

Understood.org is seeking a Director of Technology Enablement in New York City to elevate how technology supports people and the organization. You will lead a small IT team, shape strategy, and drive adoption of AI-enabled workflows across functions, ensuring secure, scalable technology.

You will partner with the VP of Engineering & IT and the Chief People & Culture Officer to translate curiosity into real improvements, blending operational excellence with transformational leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in technology, IT, or digital transformation roles.
• 3+ years leading a team in a fast-moving or complex environment.
• Ownership of team priorities, budgeting, and resourcing.
• Experience building AI workflows and end-to-end automation.
• Ability to communicate with executive leadership and drive adoption.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a small IT team to operate with autonomy.
• Own hardware lifecycle: laptops, access points, AV equipment.
• Oversee vendor management, MDM tools, and compliance infra.
• Define self-serve vs. white-glove support; improve IT queue.
• Drive adoption and governance for new technology rollouts.
