Job summary

Pedestal Health is seeking a Head of Technology to own data engineering, cloud infrastructure, internal platforms, and IT/security programs. You will set architecture, standards, and priorities while growing leaders and maintaining technical depth.

This role partners with Product, Quantitative Sciences, and Health Systems to earn trust and drive data-driven decisions. You will lead security, compliance (HIPAA/HITRUST/SOC2), and enterprise IT, while managing budgets and vendor contracts.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in engineering, including 5+ years leading multi-team organizations.
• Experience with healthcare organizations and healthcare data.
• Experience overseeing corporate IT, directly or through an IT leader.
• Deep knowledge of AWS data architecture and infrastructure as code.
• Familiarity with cloud data warehouse such as Snowflake.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and security frameworks (HITRUST, SOC 2).
• Track record of hiring and developing engineering leaders and scaling teams.
• Experience owning engineering budgets and cloud spend.
• Clear written and verbal communication for leadership alignment.
• Experience supporting ML/LLM workloads in production and data standards (FHIR, OMOP).

Responsibilities

• Lead data engineering, cloud infrastructure, internal data and applications platforms, and IT/security.
• Set architecture, standards, and priorities; grow leaders and maintain depth.
• Partner with Product, Quantitative Sciences, and Health Systems teams to build trust.
• Own the engineering and IT budget, including cloud spend and vendor contracts.
• Ensure security, compliance, and enterprise IT posture (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2).
• Drive technology strategy for the data platform and products built on it.
